AUGUST 20TH, 2018
We completed the fourth yacht in our renowned Raised Pilothouse semi-custom range in August. Built for previous owners of a smaller Van der Valk motoryacht, Nicostasia combines exterior and interior design by Guido de Groot with the finest Dutch engineering and construction work.
The cooperation and coordination between Van der Valk and the owners’ representatives during the design and build advanced very smoothly, thanks in part to the fact that we have ample experience with owners from their country and were able to conduct all communications in their native language.
Nicostasia is a cool-looking, smart-working family boat, thoroughly customised to the clients’ needs. The interior is brightly coloured, consisting mainly of whitewashed oak, and is sophisticated and minimalistic while retaining a highly functional, robust edge. She has an elegant elevated wheelhouse and lots of open outdoor spaces for socialising.
Unique exterior components include chic floating steel stairs in polished stainless steel between the main deck and the pilothouse, providing a natural flow in combination with the split-level wheelhouse. Nicostasia also features a gorgeous, uncommon grey metallic hull with stylish dark blackout areas and striping. Her twin MTU 10V 2000 M93 engines give a top speed of 25 knots.
The main accommodations on the lower deck include a full-beam owner’s suite, two guest cabins and a VIP, all with ensuite bathrooms. Nicostasia’s nature as a family boat rather than a typical charter is clear from the quirky design chosen for the children’s cabins. The compact open galley is integrated in the saloon, reflecting the family’s fondness for entertaining guests while cooking. This area also has very high ceilings, letting in lots of natural sunlight from the oversized windows in the wheelhouse above, and integrates lots of other advanced features.
Nicostasia is currently cruising the Adriatic Sea. Her owners plan to eventually sail her throughout the Mediterranean.
